Term 3 Welcome!

Kia Ora Whanau and Friendly Viewers!

Welcome back to school for Term 3!

I hope you have all had a really good break over the holidays and got to spend some quality time together.

Our Inquiry focus is 'Changing All Around Us' and we
will be looking at our school environment
and deciding what we can change for
the better.

We welcome back Charles Havili-Kiole who was with us in Term 1 and has been in Palmerston North for Term 2. He has now rejoined us for the rest of the year. It is great to have you back Charles!

Dunkirk Reserve Clean Up Day!

Dunkirk Reserve Clean Up Day!

Attention Whanau!
Our Tamaki Estuary needs help!
Please come to Dunkirk Reserve
On Saturday 20th July 2019
between 10a.m and 11a.m.
We will meet at the picnic table
beside the stream on Riverside Ave,
near where Tangaroa St comes
out to the Reserve.
We want to clean our stream
and reserve to make the water
healthy for us all to enjoy.
Please bring your Whanau to help
and a bucket for the litter.
Thank you,  from Ruapotaka School
and Room 9!

Term 2 Week 10 Kaitiaki for Tamaki River!

Kia Ora Whanau and Friendly Viewers!

What a fabulous end to a busy term for Room 9!

We created a presentation to share with
our whole school and some visitors
from Auckland Zoo. They are the ones
who have been taking us on all these trips
and teaching us about keeping our water
clean.
Thank you very much to
 Fraser, Ashley, Hazel and Ava!

After this we took our whole school to the
Tamaki River Estuary to help pick up
litter and think about what else we can
do to keep our water in this area clean.

We helped them to fill out the form for
recording all the different kinds of litter
that we found. And the different animals that
we could see, (including dogs being walked
and all the birds). We found a lot of litter!

We had a picnic by the playground at the Dunkirk Reserve.

Climbing along the rope was fun!

Hold on tight and keep your balance!

When we got back to school Fraser presented
a lovely book to our library, it is called 'Up the River'.
It shows all the animals we have been
seeing at our local Reserve.

Not only that, but, they also gave us all a
reusable gift bag that we can take shopping,
a metal water bottle and a pen made from
recycled wood. THANK YOU so much!

We have lots of ideas for keeping our water clean, please read our
next post to find out more.
