Kia ora Whanau!
Room 9 has been learning about the special places in Aotearoa that are part of the North Island.
Here are some we have learned about this week.
How many of these places can you locate on our map of the North Island?
Good luck Whanau!
Kia ora Whanau!
For this term our Inquiry is:
'Aotearoa-a special place to be'.
As part of this inquiry we have been studying the art works of New Zealand artist Nigel Brown. He uses many icons to represent what is special to him about Aotearoa. Some of these include: kereru, (woodpigeon), ponga trees, mountains, the ocean, his family, rugby ball, and silver fern.
We have created our own self-portraits using his method of doing a strong border with icons and a head and shoulders portrait in the centre with places that are special to us in the background.
Here are our portraits!
