Kia Ora Whanau and Friendly Viewers!
We are pleased to report that the Auckland Zoo animal habitats are all very well designed and maintained. The animals are well cared for and they seem to be quite happy in their man-made homes.
On Wednesday this week we went on a trip to find out if the habitats at Auckland Zoo are suitable for the animals that are kept there. Here is what we found:
The Educators are very knowledgeable and have
Tuatara skin to share with us!
Squirrel monkeys love to climb and jump through
the many trees in their habitat.
The two elephants like eating all the foods they
are given and they enjoy the pool in their habitat
on hot days.
The rhino has quite a lot of room to roam in.
The cheetahs are so happy and relaxed in the sun
under one of their many trees that they play
together.
The serval likes trying to hide in the long grass and he also
likes to sit in the sun on one of the warm rocks in his
habitat.
The giraffes enjoy stretching their necks to reach their
food and stretching their legs walking all round
their roomy habitat.
The tuatara are kept at just the right temperature
and have logs, plants and a mini river to
make it just like home in their habitat.
Thank you to The Warehouse for helping us
get to the Auckland Zoo so we could
find out more about animal habitats.
And thank you Auckland Zoo Educators and
Animal Keepers for teaching us so much!
